PITTI UOMO 90 14-17 June 2016 Fortezza da Basso, Florence
The dividing line between exclusive showcases for men and women is blurring. What was once the territory of one: catwalk seasons, fashion collections or tradeshows, has been invaded by the other. In Florence the Pitti show is predominantly menswear but womenswear is finding its voice among the big players, especially in the athleisure sector. This flux is reflected in the street scene where there is an even ratio of male and female influencers and fashion insiders from all over the world.
Our photographers capture defining moments and trendspotters stop the cool crowd to get detailed shots of full outfits and back views. In the editing the best looks emerge naturally into trends assisted by our forecasting team. The result is a unique snapshot of advance fashion looks that will impact on trends going forward.

STREET Pitti Uomo SS 2017 Women

ATHLEISURE – latest looks throw the eye off centre with asymmetric design, back-to-front details or unexpected blocks of colour. shapes are loose and long, often balanced with skinny or cropped proportions. colours are saturated with the emphasis on primary hues. graphics are a fundamental part of this trend and are a combination of clean branding or crafted custom looks

CASUALS – inspired by workwear and uniforms, these styles lie at the heart of streetwear. chino-style trousers, loose jeans and baggy shirts make up the core of this look. drawstring or elasticated waistlines and pyjama-style shirts + pants, add to the relaxed mood. leather jackets are softly styled for summer in cropped, collarless shapes and denim is personalised with ragged finishes, badges or hand-stitch patchwork

FEMME – the femme look turns up the volume in shapes with added pleats and gathers. this gentle expansion creates wider boxy or a-line silhouettes and looks forward with asymmetry. soft tailoring has a Japanese flavour, with loose kimono lines and long layers. dresses are cut in lace, cheesecloth and plain or candystripe cotton. fabrics with iridescent shine or metallics, hidden under mesh or lace, turn the look towards evening

TAILORING – this sector moves further away from its menswear roots into softened, less structured and brightly coloured styles. trousers feature extended panels at the centre or side seams, which wrap at the front and lengths are cropped. skirts are cut into angular wraps which are emphasised with bold stripes. striped shirts are finished with fringes and shirtdresses are fastened with belts or feature ribbon ties at the neckline
